Never. Every visit covers only your side — your bed, your surfaces, your floor space. At signup you confirm your roommate is informed and okay with the arrangement.
Do I need to be in the room?
Either works — be there, or authorize the cleaner to come during a scheduled absence. You'll pick which at signup.
